Campus Community Social – Jan 30th.

Are your Monday nights boring? Do you need a reason to procrastinate?
Or perhaps you’re just looking to meet other queer-friendly students on campus!

Whatever the case, has GLOW got an event for you!
Come out to the *Campus Community Social* to meet other queer-friendly people and have a good ol’ time.

There will be *FREE FOOD and DRINK* with board games. All you have to bring is yourself!

Located just off the Great Hall. The MPR is an accessible space.
Drop in any time!

Remember, you don’t have to be queer to use our service or attend our events, just queer-positive!
If you have a favourite board or card game, feel free to bring it out and share with the group too.

MONDAY, January 30 – SAPPHIC 

January is coming to a close. What better way to say goodbye then to join us for some fun!

Sapphic is a casual get-together of female-identified queer and trans* people.  All individuals are welcome as long as they are queer-positive and female-positive.  The aim of the group is to provide an opportunity for women and trans* people to meet each other, make new friends, enjoy casual conversation and have an all-around good time! TUESDAY, January 31 – MOVIE MAYHEM

Movie Mayhem is an ongoing event that GLOW provides, allowing individuals to meet in the GLOW Centre and watch a movie (generally with a queer theme, or related to queer culture). Glow is hiring a Special Projects Assistant!

Now officially approved through the Student Awards & Financial Aid office, GLOW is very excited to announce that we are hiring a part-time, paid position through the OSAP Work-Study program.

Job Title: Special Projects Assistant, Job # 0349-O

Job Summary: The Special Projects Assistant is tasked with special projects beyond the scope of the general events and services that GLOW normally provides. The Special Projects Assistant assists Federation of Students staff and the GLOW Executive Board with strengthening current programs and initiatives as well as creating and implementing new programs and initiatives to increase organizational capacity and service provision. The Special Projects Assistant may be required to begin and complete several projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities: Regularly hold meetings with GLOW Executive Board and the Federation of Students to ensure ongoing communication regarding projects. Create a network with services, centre and departments on campus who can positively influence the environment for queer and trans individuals. Implement reporting system for queer and trans students, faculty and staff to report issues they encounter on campus in accessing services. Update existing resource listings, both on campus and off campus. Organize and market leadership workshops specifically tailored towards queer and trans students. Research and organize training sessions for staff and faculty and campus-wide educational programs and initiatives on sexual and gender diversity and anti-oppression. Create and run awareness campaigns on queer and trans issues or topics. Experience as a GLOW volunteer is preferred, or other queer/trans organization, but not required.

“Transsexual Nina Arsenault is a national queer icon whose performance works The Silicone Diaries and I was Barbie have been presented across Canada to sold out theatres and critical raves.

Formerly a reality TV star, a whore, a self-proclaimed “beauty addict” and a gay night life hostess she has reinvented and established herself as a public intellectual, a devoted aesthete and a postfeminist artistic force.

In May 2012, Intellect Books will publish TRANS(per)FORMING Nina Arsenault: An Unreasonable Body of Work — an international scholarly and artistic exploration of beauty, image, and the notion of queerness through the lens of Arsenault’s highly personal brand of performance art.”
