Hello again! Please join us next Thursday, June 3rd in St. Jerome’s Room 2009 from 4-6pm for Peer Support Training, the second of 2 mandatory training sessions for GLOW volunteers. This training provides participants with some useful techniques in providing peer support to others. Even if you’re not planning on holding office hours with GLOW you may find this session beneficial!
Ally Training – May 27th!
Join us this Thursday, May 27th, in St. Jerome’s Room 2009 from 4-6pm for a special Ally Training session! Ally training serves as an introduction to queer issues and terminology. Everyone is welcome to attend, and this is a required training session for those wanting to volunteer with GLOW. Hope to see you there!
Volunteer Meet and Greet – May 19th!
Our termly Volunteer Meet-and-Greet will be happening this Wednesday May 19 from 6-7pm in PAS 3005 (the PAS lounge/Wednesday Night Discussion Group room). This event is open to everyone, especially those who want to get to know the people involved with GLOW this term. It is also the place to come get information about volunteering with us, and figuring out where you might fit best within our organization.
GLOW cannot operate without a dedicated team of eager volunteers, and while we can always use the help, we are especially short on numbers this term. Otherwise, some events, such as marching in Toronto Pride with busing provided, may regrettably not be able to happen unless someone comes and takes up the mantle. So, if you’ve ever even had an inkling of interest of working with us, please come out this Wednesday and talk with us! Pizza and Pop will be provided free of charge.
If you cannot make it but are interested in volunteering, feel free to email your Community Centre Director Darcy Alemany at dtaleman {at} uwaterloo(.)ca or your Coordinator Greg Demacio at gademaci {at} uwaterloo(.)ca.
International Day Against Homophobia – May 17th!
Join GLOW in celebrating the International Day Against Homophobia on Monday, May 17th.
We will have an information booth in the SLC Greathall from 10am – 2pm, where you can chat with volunteers about what events GLOW will be running this term and what volunteer opportunities are available.
At night, Sapphic Mondays and Tuesday Movie Mayhem team up to present a showing of “Boys Don’t Cry” in EIT Room 1015. The movie is scheduled to start at 7pm! Click here for the facebook event.
March 6 – DRAG ME TO THE BOMBER!

Get ready for a night of fun, dancing, and entertainment featuring professional and amateur drag queens and kings, with a special guest appearance by Manton and guest emcee Miss Drew!
